Congratulations to the 'Violin with Helen' students who have gained places in the Training Orchestra, Under 10's, Under 11's, Under 12's and Under 13's National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain. What a fantastic opportunity, and an inspiration to all!
Come and watch violinist Chloe Hanslip perform at the Reading Concert Hall on Wednesday 15th November at 7:30pm. In the interval, our new advanced ensemble group Appassionato will be performing - come and see us!
A wonderful time was had by all at Caversham Court Gardens on Sunday 2nd July. Gardens visitors were treated to an afternoon of group and individual performances, all in glorious sunshine.
Students from North Reading Suzuki Group put on a show titled 'Fabulous Feline Fiddlers Puuurforming to Puuurfection’, and delivered a spec-cat-ular charity puuurformance raising over £1,000 for Cats Protection Wokingham and Bracknell.
Over 40 violinists aged 4-15 joined forces for a magical narrated ‘cats-eye’ journey around the UK. They adventured with witches, castles, chimney tops and more, all to the backdrop of music by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Brahms, as well contemporary favourites by the Beetles, Disney and Irish fiddle tunes.
On Sunday 5th Feb 2017 students from Violin with Helen had the fantastic opportunity to meet violinist Pinchas Zuckerman. Before the concert, they watched him rehearse with the RPO, then had the chance to meet him and ask lots of questions. He was wonderfully entertaining with the students, spent lots of time with them, and made them laugh! An experience that we won't forget!!
Mr Zukerman performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto, which the students described as 'amazing' and 'the best ever', and several students announced that they want to start learning it immediately (one a Pre-Twinkler). Another student asked Mr Zuckerman what his 3 top tips were for our studio. He replied 'PRACTICE, LISTEN and PRACTICE'. Perfect.
Mr Zuckerman was not the only one to perform however, as we got our turn too! Our studio performance was heard by over 1000+ people, and as usual our students not only looked and sounded fantastic (we had people dancing to our Irish fiddle tunes!), but were also incredibly well behaved and courteous to their fellow concert goers.
We were also joined by a few students from Studio Forcado, who also played exceptionally well, and were a real credit to their teacher and parents. Thank you for joining us, it was a pleasure to have you in our group!
